Garden Club of America Scholarships

Garden Club of America Scholarships

The Garden Club of America encourages universities, arboretas, and botanic gardens to promote our scholarships to their students and interns.

Twelve of the scholarships are maintained by GCA employees and volunteers. Each year, selection committees made up of GCA members and community volunteers analyze submissions and suggest candidates for voting in March.

For fifteen of the GCA scholarships, the specialized level of knowledge required to identify the most appealing research ideas enables us to engage with the following other organizations:

The Garden Club of America provides 29 merit-based scholarships and fellowships in 12 categories, including conservation, ecology, horticulture, and pollinator research. In 2022, 78 scholars received more than $350,000.

Their research will take place in institutions across the country, with some conducting fieldwork around the globe.

GCA scholars have advanced to leadership positions in their respective fields of study. A selection panel member recently reviewed a list of prior recipients of the GCA Awards in Tropical Botany, which were established in the 1980s.

These scholars are well-established in their fields. According to a member of the selection panel, the names on the list are a “veritable who’s who” of today’s Systematics and Forest Ecology sectors. The Garden Club of America is justifiably proud of its scholarship program.
