DAR scholarship

Dar scholarship: Native Americans receive scholarships from the American Indians Committee of the National Society DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution).

This grant is meant to assist Native American college students of all ages, from any tribe and in any state, who are pursuing an education. All scholarships are evaluated based on financial need and academic success.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) provides scholarships to students pursuing higher education in various fields, including history, economics, law, political science, medicine, nursing, occupational and physical therapy, elementary and secondary education, chemistry, math, science, and English.

DAR scholarship are awarded and judged without respect for gender, race, color, religion, country of origin, or disability.

  • Applicants must be citizens of the United States.
  • Applicants must be attending or planning to attend a recognized college or university in the United States.
  • All multi-year scholarships, normally renewable for four years, must be used in consecutive years of attendance.
  • Academic distinction, commitment to the subject of study, and financial need are the criteria for awards, with some scholarships having additional limits.
  • Awards are placed on deposit at the recipient’s college or university, and any unused amount is returned to the DAR.
  • Applicants can only earn one national scholarship from the DAR Scholarship Committee.

DAR scholarship is delighted to inform you that all students applying for scholarships awarded by the DAR Scholarship Committee will use the online application site linked below.

Emailed or mailed applications will no longer be accepted unless they are for the Margaret Howard Hamilton Scholarship.

The scholarship application portal is now accessible. The application process is fully online, via the Academic Works portal.

The portal will be open for the coming year from November 1, 2023, to January 31, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. (Hawaii time).

What is the Dar Award?

Every year, the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) awards multiple scholarships to students who demonstrate dedication to pursuing higher education in diverse areas of study, including history, economics, law, political science, medicine, nursing, occupational therapy, and physical therapy.

How can I earn a scholarship?

You earn them by meeting or exceeding the scholarship’s requirements. Merit scholarships may be offered based on academic performance or a mix of academics plus a unique talent, trait, or interest. Other scholarships are based on financial need.

Is there a fee to DAR?

The cost of confirming an application, whether new or additional, was $132 in 2022, significantly higher than the present rate of $75, introduced in July 2003. By 2025, the cost of verifying an application is estimated to be $169.
